Every in my family came down ill last March and April in a cascading avalanche of lethargy, body aches, and coughing that lasted for weeks! Many in our community were also sick at the same time. One of those families was diagnosed and so we assumed that was what the rest of us had the same thing they were facing. So we skipped the official diagnosis and hunkered down to wait it out, quarantining while on vacation visiting family. Perhaps you’ve been there.
Of course I used my oils to help everyone recover, and we all drank NingXia Red, and more, and everyone now is better.
Fast forward to mid-June when I lost half the volume of my waist-length hair in three weeks’ time. It was so bad I was taking pictures of the handfuls of hair that came out of my hairbrush each day. Was it hormones? Was it because I was sick last spring? I didn’t know and had plans to see my doctor about it to find out. But then the hair loss returned to normal levels and left my hair like a bad thinning job. My once-thick braid now looks like the same volume as that of my 8-year old daughter. It’s awful.
So when I began my 14-day reset at the beginning of August, I added in Sulfurzyme to help strengthen my hair and nails, and NingXia Greens to give me an overall nutrition boost with my NingXia Red. More on the reset to come, I promise, because it really blew me away with how many things were helped by it!
And then a week ago I started adding a series of essential oils directly to my scalp before I brushed each day. I added Lavender, Cedarwood, Cypress, and Rosemary. In that short time period I am already seeing tiny new hair growth at the edge of my scalp onto my forehead.
How did I come to choose these four oils? First, I looked in my reference guide - But let’s explore how these four powerhouse oils can transform your hair care routine and promote healthy hair growth.
Rosemary Essential Oil: The Energizer
Rosemary essential oil is known for its invigorating scent and powerful properties that support hair growth. It helps stimulate blood circulation to the scalp, ensuring that hair follicles receive the nutrients they need to thrive. Additionally, rosemary’s natural antioxidant qualities can aid in keeping your scalp healthy by combating free radicals and environmental stressors.
Lavender Essential Oil: The Soother
Lavender isn’t just about its calming aroma; it’s also a powerhouse for hair health. By dipping into its calming and balancing properties, lavender essential oil helps to soothe the scalp, reducing stress and potential hair loss triggers. Its ability to moisturize and protect your scalp creates an optimal environment for hair growth, making your hair care routine more relaxing and effective.
Cypress Essential Oil: The Strengthener
Cypress essential oil brings strength and vitality to your hair care regimen. Known for enhancing circulation, cypress supports a healthy blood flow to the scalp, vital for robust hair growth. This essential oil also helps balance the scalp's oil production, preventing dryness or excessive oiliness, both of which can hinder healthy hair growth.
Cedarwood Essential Oil: The Stabilizer
Cedarwood essential oil is your go-to for achieving a balanced, healthy scalp. This oil is renowned for its ability to promote hair growth by maintaining the scalp’s overall health. Cedarwood essential oil encourages hair follicles by stimulating the scalp and increasing circulation, leading to stronger and thicker hair over time. Plus, its soothing properties can help alleviate scalp irritation, providing a solid foundation for new hair growth.
How to Incorporate These Oils Into Your Hair Care Routine
Harnessing the power of these essential oils is easy and can be an invigorating part of your daily hair care ritual.
> Add a few drops of each oil to your favorite carrier oil, such as coconut or jojoba oil, and massage into your scalp.
> Add 10 drops of each oil to a small spray bottle with witch hazel and spritz your hair once a day before brushing
> Blend them into your shampoo or conditioner to enjoy their benefits with every wash
> Drop 3-6 drops of each oil directly onto your head and brush it through your hair to get it to your scalp
> Put 3-6 drops of each oil onto your palms and rub them together. Massage the oil onto your scalp before brushing
Shoot me pictures when you try this out! I’d love to compare notes!
